This summer has certainly brought its share of big storms and crazy weather. While we can often prepare for those kinds of storms, life also has a way of bringing storms that no weather forecast can predict.

The Bible reminds us that following Jesus does not mean we will never face difficult seasons. Every one of us will experience times of uncertainty, disappointment, fear, or hardship. Sometimes those storms come without warning, and other times they build over time until we find ourselves wondering how we are going to make it through.

The disciples knew exactly what that felt like. In Matthew 14, they were in a boat being tossed by the wind and the waves. They were doing everything they could to keep going when, in the middle of the storm, Jesus came walking toward them on the water.

"But Jesus immediately said to them: 'Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid.'" Matthew 14:27

This passage reminds us that Jesus didn't wait until the storm was over before He came to His disciples. He met them right where they were. The wind was still blowing, and the waves were still crashing, but His presence reminded them they were not alone.

The same is true for us today.

Many times we ask God to remove the storm as quickly as possible. We pray for the situation to change, and there's nothing wrong with that. But sometimes, before anything around us changes, God reminds us that He is with us. His presence gives us the strength to keep trusting Him one step at a time.

Jesus said, "Take courage. It is I. Don't be afraid." Those words still speak to us today. Maybe you're carrying a burden that no one else knows about. God knows. He sees every prayer you've prayed, every tear you've cried, and every worry you've carried. Nothing in your life has escaped His attention.

Peter's response is something we can all learn from. When Jesus said, "Come," Peter stepped out of the boat in faith. He wasn't fearless. He simply chose to trust Jesus. It wasn't until Peter focused on the wind instead of the One who called him that fear began to take over.

If we're honest, we've all been there. It's easy to become so focused on the problem that we lose sight of God's promises. We begin to look at everything that's happening around us instead of remembering who is walking beside us.

Today, whatever storm you may be facing, remember that Jesus is with you. He has not forgotten you, and He will never leave you to face life's challenges alone. As you keep your eyes on Him, He will give you the strength, peace, and courage you need for each new day. Just as He came to His disciples in the middle of the storm, He comes to us in the middle of ours. We can trust Him because He is always faithful, and He is always near.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for always being with me, even in the middle of life's storms. When fear and worry begin to overwhelm me, help me to keep my eyes on You instead of my circumstances. Strengthen my faith and remind me that I am never alone because You are always faithful. Give me the courage to trust You one step at a time, knowing that You are guiding my life. Thank You for Your peace, Your presence, and Your unfailing love. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
