2 Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
When it comes to salvation, it is clear that God has a plan for everyone. We know what God says on the subject, and you can stand in faith, believe, and receive His promise. What happens when the Bible doesn’t speak to a specific issue in your life? Perhaps it’s a new job opportunity, buying a new house, or starting a new business. What do you do when you are uncertain about what God is saying?
Romans 8:14 - For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Romans 8:16 - The Spirit (himself) itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
John 16:13 – When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth…
Galatians 5:25 – If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit
In today’s world, we are bombarded with many questions that will determine our destiny. A job change, family changes, relationships, and money issues. We all need direction in our lives.
We all want to make the right choices, but we are often uncertain which way to go. Many times, we seek guidance through other avenues besides God. We look at circumstances and judge how God is guiding us. We say things like: “If this happens or this happens, I will take that as a sign from God to do something.” That is not a safe route to follow; you are leaving a lot to chance, and there is a better way.
The Bible doesn’t say that our physical senses lead us. God said that He would guide us through our spirits. Sometimes we refer to it as “the little voice,” but it’s actually the Holy Spirit speaking to us. This is the number one way God will lead you!
What is the inward witness, or how can I tell if God is talking to my spirit? You probably already know what it is, but you may not have realized it. Maybe you are praying about something, and every time you get ready to act on it, you feel something on the inside scratch at you. You have a check in your heart, a red light, or a stop signal. That is the inward witness leading you in a specific direction.
Often, people are more spiritual than they realize; they simply don’t give the Holy Spirit enough credit.
On the other hand, the more you pray about a situation and the more you think about it, the better you feel on the inside. Not a physical feeling but a “go ahead” on the inside.
One of the easiest ways of identifying the inward witness is in an area of sin. When you sin, you immediately recognize that the Holy Spirit is speaking to you about getting your heart right. Just as He will talk to you about sin, He will also speak to you about direction for your life.
If you will learn to follow the inward witness, God will guide you in the affairs of life, spiritually, naturally, and physically. People are looking for the spectacular and missing the supernatural that is right there all the time.
If you are going to keep step with the spirit of God and obtain the things that the Word of God promises you, you will have to know the plan of God for your life. You will need to learn how to carry out His plan and allow His power to change things in your life.
Psalm 37:23 - The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you that you love me and desire to lead me through my spirit. I thank you, Holy Spirit, for guiding me into all truth and showing me the way to live. I thank you for being my helper, and you will show me the way. Help me to listen to your voice and follow your plan for my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
