October’s Kids Church Lessons

Kids – Promise

When God first created the world, it was paradise! But it’s not always easy for us to imagine a perfect world where nothing needs to be fixed — especially when we hear sad or scary news about the world we live in today. But even though the world today isn’t exactly perfect, there’s good news! Even though things sometimes go wrong, God’s promises can always be trusted. As kids learn about famous figures from Genesis in this series, they will be reminded of God’s faithfulness through the promises that were made to them, like God’s promises to fix what was broken and to always show us mercy, and that, even though they might sometimes take time to be fulfilled, God keeps all promises – both the promises God made for now and the promises God made for later.

 Youth – True Story

Many of our favorite movies tell us stories of characters who are on a journey to discover who they are and what they were created to do. The stories in Scripture are like this too, but with one big difference: in the Bible, humans aren’t the main characters — God is. In this series, we’ll explore the stories of people like Cain and Abel, Elijah, Naomi, Ruth, Esther, and learn who God is how that fits in in our own story! When we discover who our Creator is, we can better understand who we were created to be. Because of who God is, we can trust how God has made us, we can do difficult things, we can embrace the unknown, and we can take risks for others.

Prayer Resources

We have put together a prayer resource for parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and anyone who wants to pray over the children in their lives. It includes scriptures you can speak over your children and a daily prayer guide. Proverbs 18:21 says, “The tongue has the power of life and death.” As parents, you have the power to speak life or death to your children and over your children. When you choose to speak the Word of God over your children, you are choosing to speak life over them. Jesus said in John 6:63, The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.  As Isaiah 55:11 says these words will not return to you empty but will accomplish and achieve the purpose for which they are sent.
