But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

This week in our ’Tis the Season series, we were reminded of one of the most amazing truths of Christmas: it is the ultimate proof of God’s love. The birth of Jesus shows us a love that is personal, unconditional, and unchanging. No matter what our past looks like, no matter the challenges of today, no matter the uncertainties of tomorrow, God’s love for us remains constant. It does not waver, it does not falter, and it cannot be earned; it is simply given.

As we prepare to celebrate Christmas Eve, we are invited to pause and reflect on this incredible gift. God stepped into our world, not as a distant observer, but as a Savior who entered our humanity to bring hope, peace, joy, and love. The manger in Bethlehem wasn’t just the scene of a historical event; it was a declaration that God values each of us deeply, intimately, and personally.

Receiving God’s love isn’t just about acknowledging it in our minds; it’s about letting it transform our hearts and the way we live. When we truly grasp that God loves us, it changes the way we see ourselves and others. We can offer grace where there was judgment, patience where there was frustration, and hope where there was despair. The love God gives us is meant to flow through us, touching family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers.

This Christmas, let’s open our hearts fully to God’s love. Let us let it heal the places of hurt and fear, fill the moments of loneliness, and remind us that we are never alone. As we feel the depth of God’s love, let’s be intentional about sharing it. A kind word, a gentle gesture, a heartfelt prayer for someone else—these are small ways that reflect the love we’ve been given.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the gift of Your Son, the greatest proof of Your love. Help me to receive Your love fully this Christmas, not just in thought, but in the way I live and love others. Teach me to let Your love flow through me, bringing hope, peace, joy, and encouragement to those around me. Amen.
